The Natural

Reached back to the point where my roots
where nappy,
happy in love,
reached back to my kitchen

scratched the itching tugging
at this scalp,
tingling caught a good feeling in you,
parted waves with a wide tooth comb,

smiling because you black and nappy,
seeming to be happy with me,
made the part four ways cross,
tossed indescretion aside,

feeling sweet coconut grease
ease dry patches near the base of
a crown you placed upon this tender head,
dreaded letting go,

cause you still
smiling,
happily,
black and nappy...

so I weave the love in the braids
of pur togetherness across my scalp,
smiling,
happy to be black, nappy
and in love.
