Purple Dawn

You led me over the ancient bridge,
     And I leaned on you
     More than you knew.

Now beneath the shimmering moon,
     I'll clasp your hand
     Until I understand.

Somnus* has bound the eyes of day,
And muffled her noisy throat
That I might sit in the glow
And think, and feel, and know.

Beneath the shimmering moon---
     A symphony of silence...
     Ah, God! What a night.
