Mirage to Life
I was in love all by myself
thought it was a seat built for two
but I warmed the one built for a fool
with big glitter filled dreams
of shiny perfection
I reluctantly took
an awakening dip into your
pool of bitter reality
and with each lap I swam
I drew closer and closer
to the scattered pieces
that were floating helplessly about
I vaguely recognized one
then another
I gathered those fragments
and put them together
to inevitably see
what I'd chosen to
ignore all along
nope
you never loved me
and I can no longer live blissfully
within the confinement of my fantasy
