His one and only dream was for blacks to be treated
like any other human therefore to be seated
in Congress as well as a presidential nominee
Supreme Court justice or whatever else we might could be
we should be equal, given the same rights
the only difference is the color between blacks and whites
because the knowledge we uphold comes within our minds
and Dr. King, helped us through some hard times
when we were being put down, stoned and out casted
without his faith, we wouldn't have lasted
He spoke for freedom among the black people
His word stood proud just like a church steeple
Everywhere he went, crowds cheered him on
much sorrow was felt, after he was gone
We've carried on his dream, one big fight's been put forth
he would've wanted it that way he had no time for remorse
He strived for something that he knew was right
to prove that blacks are equivalent to whites
He's looking down at our valley from the almighty clouds
His dreams are being fulfilled and the king is proud
so lift our heads up high and raise our voices to sing
and pay a tribute to the man, Dr. Martin Luther King
